On Tuesday the movers came. They were everywere, and it was complete kaose. They took everything. My sister and I made a game but we could only play it in the hall and we wer’nt aloud there without a adult and my dad would only stay there for 30 secons and my mom would’nt go out there at all. And the worst part was we wer’nt aloud to walk around the apartment with out shoes. And when they left we had nothing.

Reading

In readers workshop I am in a group with Eleanor and Vittoria. Together we are reading ‘The 9 Lives of Montezuma’. I like this book because it is about a cat who almost died but he lived because he fell out of the hay stack in the barn.

Wip Reflection

A wip is a work in progress. The wip I will share is my personal narrative. For our personal narratives we listed our fears and first moments. To be honest with you I chose the first enemy of my life and I am going to start my story shortly. I will start my story like this –
‘When I saw my enemy, Roma on the first day of school I knew we would not get along’…..

Poetry Reflection

This is a poem I wrote about spring called “spring is here.” To write this poem my class and I went outside and wrote a poem about what we saw, felt, heard, smelt, and tasted. I wrote an amazing poem about the flowers, the sun, bees, lady bugs, squirrels, birds, and the wind. It contains 8 lines. Even though it was the middle of April and it was still kind of cold I felt like I was there.

Social Studies Reflection

In Social Studies we began the year thinking about what makes a community and how researchers study a community.  Next we studied the city of London and the River Thames. Then we zoomed in on the Victorian time period and studied what daily life was like. We noticed how the Victorian times were a period of great change, so we went on to study the inventors and innovators of the time period and beyond. At the end of the year, we thought about how London is a city that has changed over time. We created a mural with pictures and words to show what we’ve learned.

During my portfolio conference I want to be sure to show my parents that

I know what every community has in common (Identity, Culture, History, Geography, Economy, Government, and Science & Technology)

I can tell the difference between fact and opinion.

I know what primary and secondary resources are and how to use them. (Books and articles vs actual diaries and photographs.

I can talk about what daily life was like for Victorian children.

I can talk about how the city of London has changed over time.

I feel like I am a really good researcher.

I have mastered:

locating London on a map

making a timeline and using it to keep track of a time period

using a venn diagram to compare similarities and differences

understanding the themes of Social Studies.

telling the difference between fact and opinion.

how to use resources to find information

understanding what daily life was like for Victorian children.

pointing out things that have changed over time

I want to keep practicing:
